In the wake of the global outbreak of COVID-19, stars around the world have taken to Instagram to offer messages of support and solidarity while in self-isolation. The more impressive efforts, however, are from those getting creative with the medium to bring a little light relief during this trying times—and few have met this challenge with greater charm and initiative than Miley Cyrus. The pop star has been using the social media platform’s IGTV function to broadcast daily from her home in Los Angeles, chatting with her starry line-up of guests—Dua Lipa, Demi Lovato, and Hailey Bieber have all made appearances so far—and asking them to share their tips on how to remain calm while also helping others in the midst of this unprecedented global crisis. Yesterday’s episode began with Cyrus in conversation with Rita Ora, who recently announced she was teaming up with the United Nations Foundation and the World Health Organization to design a T-shirt that would see all proceeds go directly to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. The second half of the show, meanwhile, looked at the power of fashion in a very different light.
